A Guide to OTR
General Information
| SECURITY |
Staff
members working security will wear clearly marked and distinctive
clothing. They will be available to assist campers with minor problems,
missing persons, etc. If a staff or security member asks you to do/not do
something, please voluntarily comply with his/her request. Local law
enforcement patrols the area and will be called in response to any
aggressive behavior. Please resolve all conflicts through
appropriate channels. This is a gathering of friends. Please treat each
other with kindness and respect. |
| HELP |
Locate a Staff, Security, or Communications member. Communications will be
wearing yellow hats and have radio contact with Security or the Med tent.
Emergencies should be brought to the attention of OTR Staff; go to the Med
tent or Communications shack.
Not everything runs perfectly at a weekend
gathering of 2,000+ people. Any hassles, emergencies, or complaints should
be brought to the attention of the OTR Chair. Of course, if you bring a
problem, we invite you to bring a solution. |
| The
Communications Group |
Well
have the communications shack running this year, check the map at
registration to find out where they are located. Primarily amateur radio operators (hams) man this. It serves as a means to
communicate with security, med. tent, gate personnel, OTR administration,
and other hams. Any licensed ham is welcome to sign up and help out. The
amateur ham frequency will be 147.570MHz. |
| First-Aid |
First-Aid
Volunteers with training in emergency first aid are available at the
medical station located just north of the main pavilion, at the end of
vendor row. These volunteers are not trained doctors and should not be
expected to cope with major medical problems. If you have a serious
medical condition, please consider alerting our medical staff. All medical
emergencies that occur at the OTR site must be reported to the medical
station. They will ask you to fill out an incident form and will either
treat you or suggest that you obtain further medical assistance. |
| Safety
and Liability |
Please
practice good safety habits, whether you are participating in the
Speleo-Olympics or just weaving across the campground. In the
Speleo-Olympics, you must have the proper gear listed for each event, even
if you are only practicing. The OTR is not responsible for injuries
sustained in the Speleo-Olympics events.
If you are going caving, make sure to tell someone
you know where you are going, and when you plan to return. |
| Lost
and Found |
With
any event there are bound to be items that are lost. OTR is no
different. Every year there is a box of goodies that people have
found and turned in at registration. If you are one of those
unfortunate people who has misplaced an item please contact the OTR Lost
and Found by sending email to LostandFound@otr.org.
Be sure to describe in detail what the item is.
Also you should be aware that
shipping and handling costs for returning these items to you will be your
responsibility.

| Reserving
Spaces |
Starting with 2002, OTR
will not permit camping areas to be taped off or otherwise reserved.
All taping and marking of spaces as well as unoccupied tents will be
disassembled. The back
half of the overflow camping area will be open during OTR,
and will be subject to the same camping rules posted above. Only a very
limited amount of space will be reserved for latecomers. That area will be
posted. Please stay out of that area until the posted day and time.
Until noon on Thursday, and after noon on Monday,
only TRA staff, OTR staff, and listed workers may be present on site. |
