OTR
Nostalgia
We
have now celebrated over 50 Old Timers
Reunions. Each year we find many new friends,
activities and memories. To help commemorate
the past 50 years we are expecting to produce a 50
year history book which will include photos,
articles, and interviews with those of us who have
celebrated these past 50 years. It's expected
to be available for sale within a couple of years
after the 50th OTR.
The editors are looking for
photos, slides, and stories about your past
experiences at OTR. If you have any of these
that you would like to include please bring them to
OTR this year, or contact Dale
Ibberson.
As we collect information we
will include samples of it on the web. Please
check back from time to time and see how the story
unfolds.
What's New in History?
- Who
are the real "Old Timers" at OTR.
- By now you should have
heard the term COOT. A Certified Original
Old Timer, is someone who:
- attended the early Old
Timers Reunions,
- has attended more than 20
OTR's, or
- has made a significant
contribution to caving early on.
- A couple of those
qualifications are difficult to attain, but
every year you will find more people reaching
their 20th year of attendance. This is a
very prestigious milestone for most TRA members,
and they wear the COOT label proudly. The
TRA member holding the title for attending the
most reunions is Ackie
Loyd. He is recognized as having
attended every single Old Timers Reunion since
its beginning. Not an easy task with over 50
years of reunions. So, next year, look for
the people wearing badges marked COOT.
