Youth contestants must have parent or designee standing by to assist with putting on gear if necessary. Youth contestants must have 3 points of contact on rope. "Chicken Loops" are required.

EVENTS Men's & Women's Categories if sufficient interest (a minimum of 5 participants) warrants:
30-Meter Climb - Mechanical
30-Meter Climb - Knots
30-Meter Sit-Stand (Frog System) Climb

Youth Category (Ages 4 > 8 ONLY) if sufficient interest warrants:
10-Meter Climb - Mechanical
OBJECTIVE:

Timed Event. The contestant starts with all devices or knots below a mark and races up the rope until the first device or knot passes the designated mark farther along the rope. Fastest time wins. Decision of the judge(s) is final.

EQUIPMENT NEEDED:

EQUIPMENT PROVIDED: Rope.
GUIDELINES:

Following contest registration at the Main Registration Pavilion, contestant may sign-in with the Vertical Contest staff. Be prepared to show proof of OTR and contest registration via a name badge at time of sign-in. Sign-in begins at the race site at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 5:00 p.m. Contestants names will be called in order of sign-in, unless special consideration has been requested at time of sign-in (i.e., sharing of rigs, juggling of other events, etc.). Each contestant must be ready to race when name is called and is permitted three (3) attempts on rope. At judge's discretion, a climber may be awarded a scratch for safety or rule violations. A scratch indicates that the contestant has used one of his/her allotted attempts. Participation in event counts towards overall individual and grotto totals.

In the 30-Meter Knots race, no carabineers, pulleys, or ascender boxes, i.e., any metal, may come in contact with the climbing rope or be an integral part of the climbing knot. Three knots, each capable of locking and holding the climber, attached to the climbing rope, are required as are "Chicken Loops."
