TRA Awards
In
the year 2000 a plan was instituted to recognize some of our most
valued members. These are the people who have dedicated
countless years of their lives to make OTR what it is today.
They have organized, constructed, maintained, pounded nails, cut
grass, dug ditches, run contests, and all with an understanding that
their hard work would benefit the cavers who attend OTR. It's
for these people and for their commitment to TRA that these two
awards were created. See
who the latest recipients are. Be sure to recognize other
TRA members by nominating
them for the award (see below).
The Robbie Award
The Robbie Award was created to recognize consistent dedication over a period of years, often over a lifetime, to the Robertson Association and the Old Timer’s Reunion. This award carries with it the gratitude of a grateful membership and board of trustees, plus free admission to the annual meeting, and of course a framed certificate. Nominees should be from the current
membership in good standing for the past five years. We will award no more than two Robbies
a year.
The OTR Fellows Award
The Fellows Award recognizes a significant commitment of time and energy. Many of the first recipients of the award have worked tirelessly for decades. The Award carries recognition of a job well done and a framed certificate.
Nominees should be members in good standing for the past two years. The number awarded this year will be based upon the number of nominees received.
Nominations
for future awards
An awards committee has
been created to coordinate these awards, but these awards recognize
the hard work of members like you, and it is the responsibility of
the membership to make nominations for these awards. With such
a large membership it's difficult to know what contribution any one
person has made, so it's up to you to make the nominations.
Think about the years you have been attending OTR, and all of the
people who have made your experience. These are the people you
should be nominating for recognition.
Nominations for either of these awards should be submitted to the
awards committee via the Committee
Chair.
Please include not only the name of the person nominated, but a
description of their accomplishments and contributions over the
years. The award committee will present a slate of recommendations
to the full board at the spring meeting. Nominations will be
considered from the general membership. The deadline for nominations
for OTR is
1/15/2009. You may submit via email or by filling
out the form below.
Note: Nominations are
not kept from one year to the next, so you should submit your
nomination fresh each year. You should be aware that because
there are so many worthy people, not everyone nominated will receive
an award.
